I’m pleased to announce the availability of an improved Scimitar style prop from Hartzell. Flight test was performed in Nov 2011 with Mike Smith’s SX300 , IO-580, with 10 to 1 pistons. It basically is a Lancair Legacy blade with an improved hub that fits our aircraft. The spinner backplate requires some modification [see photos below]. The weight is approx 80 lbs. The diameter is full 75 inches [legacy blades have 1 1/2 inch cut from each tip for their ground clearance]. Performance has not been definitively determined , but a 3-4% increase in efficiency/thrust gain might reasonably be expected. Full payment is required and then the order will be placed.
